The story
Clara Builders started in 2012 in Mogappair with one job — a two-bedroom house for a retired schoolteacher who paid us in instalments and checked the brickwork herself, every evening.
The firm is named after the founder's mother. That is not a branding story; it is a standard. A building with her name on the hoarding gets checked the way she checked things.
Fourteen years later the crew is sixty people, and the work has grown from houses to hospitals, showrooms and offices across Chennai and the districts around it — without ever becoming too big for a repaint or a leaking terrace. What has not changed: one engineer per job, rates in writing before the advance, and a phone that gets answered. Seven in ten new clients come to us because someone we built for sent them.
